Indian Topography and Climate

The climate changes in India are extreme. The climate differs from region to region. Ideally, one should plan his India trip according to the location. For example, if one wishes to visit the historic monuments and religious places in North India, then April to June season must be avoided. Usually, these months are very hot and humid so places like Rajasthan, Delhi, and UP etc can pose big challenge to your vacation plan. But if you visit these places during the months of October to March, you will find cool and pleasant atmosphere. However, if you intend to visit Himalayan Mountains in Ladakh and Kashmir during the summer, it will be best.
If you are fascinated by the intriguing beauty of South India then best time to visit is November to April. Places like Kerala, Cochin, Chennai and Munnar are full of natural beauty. One should avoid the coastal state of Kerala during monsoon time because your trip to this Southern state can be rendered meaningless due to heavy rain lashes. Moving towards eastern side of India like Kolkata, then you should plan a trip during October to March. However, if you love rain then don’t miss to visit Kolkata and other eastern state during the monsoon. Western regions like Mumbai and Goa are best travelled during October to May when the weather is pleasant and enjoyable.
Indian tourist season is basically from November to February. This is the high time when one can witness the fast flowing rivers, alluvial plains, mesmerising mountains, beaches and tropical forests. During this period, a tourist can also witness cultural richness of India in forms of festivals and celebrations like Diwali, Durga Puja, Goa Carnival, The Dessert Festival and The Bikaner Camel Festival. India is not just about Taj Mahal and Golden Triangle. India is also home to wonderful water sports like kayaking, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting etc. A tourist gets wonderful opportunities to indulge in trekking, skiing and rock climbing in the foothills of Himalayas. The coastal areas offer a huge range of water sports including diving and snorkelling.
